Challey Comer is a Chief of Staff the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets. In this role, she directs the Department’s New York City office leading initiatives aimed at enhancing upstate-downstate connections for farm and food producers. Previously, Challey was the director of FARMroots, GrowNYC’s technical assistance program which supports business viability and land tenure for Greenmarket farmers. With more than ten years of experience in the food systems field, her background includes regional food infrastructure research, management of marketing initiatives, farmer education program development and production experience at numerous farms in the northeast. Prior to focusing on agricultural economic development, Challey worked as a project engineer designing farm-based watershed management practices in the New York City watershed.
