George joined the Garden to Cafe program as Coordinator in June, 2013. The program works with the students of 90+ schools to not only learn about the vegetables grown in their gardens, but understand how to prepare and enjoy them. Prior to working with Garden to Café, George was a manager with School Food in Brooklyn, supervising several kitchens for elementary, middle school and high schools students. A native New Yorker, George is a graduate of the New York City College of Technology’s Hospitality Management program and is finishing his graduate studies at New York University in Food Studies. For 4 years he was also an adjunct instructor in the Culinary Arts Department of Kingsborough Community College, teaching basic and intermediate culinary techniques, food safety and sanitation and cost control measures. In addition, George expanded his knowledge of food issues and food activism through his association with the Brooklyn Food Coalition.
